About Spring 2018

Spring 2018 was the height of the two-piece. It was the most common shape in the season, ahead of the ball gown and the fitted styles.

Silhouette and neckline

Ball gowns and fitted styles followed the two-piece closely, with mermaid and A-line behind. Strapless led the necklines but only just, with V necks, halters, off-the-shoulder and sweetheart all close together. Gowns far outnumbered short styles.

Fabric and finish

Satin led here, unusually, just ahead of lace, then tulle, jersey, chiffon and taffeta. Beadwork was the dominant finish by a wide margin, with prints, applique work, cut-outs and florals behind it.

Colour

Black led, ivory close behind, then red, with light blue, royal and navy after.
